Portrait and landscape signage are complete system choices, not just two ways to turn a picture. A wall mounted digital signage manufacturer should confirm the permitted physical orientation, the player’s output, the content canvas and the connection layout for the exact model. Approve those together before a mounting position or creative package becomes fixed.

LINGHUFOX’s wall-mounted range includes 32-, 43-, 55- and 65-inch models with descriptions of horizontal, vertical and split-screen layouts. That gives buyers several presentation options to discuss. It does not remove the need to confirm the supplied panel, player configuration and installation instructions. A portrait design file cannot by itself establish that the complete display installation is approved for that orientation.

Get model-specific confirmation from the wall mounted digital signage manufacturer

State the intended orientation in the initial brief and request the current installation drawing. Identify the top, bottom and service side in that orientation. The manufacturer’s instructions should establish how the complete unit is mounted and which clearances remain necessary. Do not assume that a decorative frame or existing bracket can simply be rotated with the display.

The 32-inch wall-mounted model lists a 1920 × 1080 panel and a compact enclosure. The 55-inch version occupies a larger area and lists different dimensions and weight. Each needs its own support and access review, even when the content design follows the same portrait layout.

Keep the attachment and ventilation review separate from the artwork

A creative team can approve the portrait composition while the installation team is still evaluating the mount. Record those as separate approvals. The qualified installer should assess the actual wall, support system and manufacturer’s orientation requirements. This guide does not provide fastener selections, structural ratings or a universal mounting clearance.

Ask where ventilation and connection access will be after rotation. A location that leaves space beside a landscape screen may put a required opening close to furniture when the same format is installed vertically. Show the surrounding wall features and any proposed enclosure in the review. The complete arrangement matters more than an isolated front view.

A panel’s pixel count is not the whole playback specification

The 43-inch wall-mounted display lists Full HD and 3840 × 2160 panel configurations. The 55- and 65-inch models also list panel-resolution options. Ask which panel is included in the quotation instead of treating a slash-separated catalogue entry as one fixed specification.

The published playback tables also describe a decoding resolution up to 1080p for the listed platform. That is a separate specification from the panel’s native resolution. Confirm the exact player and media path required for the project. Do not infer native 4K video decoding from the presence of a 4K panel option, or assume that a different external input is included without confirmation.

Ask the supplier to identify the complete combination of panel, player, software and input. If an external player is proposed, confirm the actual input port and supported signal arrangement on the quoted unit. A connector shown as optional in a specification should remain an explicit order item rather than an assumed fallback discovered during installation.

Portrait playback can have its own limitations

BrightSign’s video-format documentation explicitly notes that portrait-video support has model-specific limitations. That is a useful reminder that player capability must be checked in the intended orientation. It is not a claim that BrightSign equipment is included with, required by or validated on the LINGHUFOX configuration being purchased.

Request a sample playback using the intended file dimensions, codec and layout. Record the exact tested player. A landscape video working correctly does not by itself validate a portrait file at a different resolution or a multi-region layout. Keep those as separate acceptance observations when the project needs both.

Give the creative team a width-by-height specification

Describe the content canvas with both pixel dimensions and orientation. For example, a Full HD landscape file may be 1920 pixels wide by 1080 high, while a portrait composition may use 1080 wide by 1920 high when supported by the approved player. These are different layouts, even though the number of pixels is the same.

Do not solve a mismatch by stretching the artwork. Stretching can alter logos, faces and circular graphics; cropping can remove important text. Decide the intended scaling rule with the content and software teams, then test it. The supplier should demonstrate the selected behaviour rather than leaving the installer to choose whatever fills the screen.

Use a border reference before a finished campaign

Create a simple reference file with a visible outer border, corner labels and a clearly identified top edge. Add a circle and a small text sample. Use it to reveal unintended cropping, distortion, rotation or scaling. This is a proposed practical check, not a calibrated display-quality measurement or a claim of completed factory testing.

Record the content file, output setting and observed result. If the software rotates a landscape canvas rather than playing a native portrait file, document that arrangement. The creative team needs to know which coordinate system and dimensions to use for future campaigns. An accepted result should be reproducible without remembering how a technician manually adjusted it.

For a campaign used in both orientations, prepare separate compositions where necessary. The central message can remain consistent while text, product images and navigation are arranged differently. Do not assume that a landscape advertisement remains readable when reduced into a narrow portrait region. Evaluate the content from the intended viewing position.

Split-screen capability needs a layout-specific demonstration

The wall-mounted descriptions include split-screen presentation. Ask the software provider what that means for the proposed player: which media types can appear together, what resolutions are supported and how each region is scheduled. A general feature label does not establish unlimited simultaneous video or live-content performance.

Creative handover fields for each approved display layout
Field What to specify
Physical orientation Approved landscape or portrait installation
Player output Exact resolution and rotation setting
Content canvas Pixel width, height and intended scaling rule
Regions Size and media type of each area
Critical information Text or directions that must not be cropped or hidden
Reference file Accepted border test and campaign revision

Check the smallest region with realistic material. A menu column or service notice may become unreadable when too many items share the display. The display-specification guide helps separate hardware values from application requirements. A larger resolution number does not automatically make an overcrowded layout useful to a viewer at a distance.

Also define what appears if one region’s live source is unavailable. The software may have an approved fallback, but its exact behaviour must be confirmed. Avoid a layout whose important directions depend on a live feed that disappears while decorative video continues. The content owner should decide what remains acceptable in that condition.

Include the transition between layouts

If the installation changes between full-screen and multi-region content, test that transition using the intended schedule. Observe whether the next layout uses the correct orientation and whether any old region remains visible unexpectedly. Record the software version and the files used. This makes the accepted configuration more specific than a screenshot of one successful frame.

When updating only one region, confirm how the management system applies the change. Ask whether the whole package must be republished and how the destination player confirms receipt. Do not infer partial-update or synchronization features from another CMS. The order should identify the software that will actually support the content team’s workflow.

Check the cable and service arrangement after orientation is fixed

Have the installer review the connected equipment in its final orientation. The full depth includes the approved mount, plugs and cable route, not only the display enclosure. Keep required ports reachable through the authorized service process. Do not design a frame that prevents a connector from being removed without dismantling the surrounding wall finish.

The 55-inch listing distinguishes the unit’s outside dimensions from its size including the rack. Use the current drawing to confirm those details and any additional connected-space requirement. Do not turn a catalogue depth into a complete installation clearance. The relevant suppliers and qualified installer should approve the actual assembly.

For an existing location, compare the old and new connection arrangements rather than assuming the wall opening remains suitable. The screen-replacement planning guide provides useful questions for that case. A new display can fit the visible opening while needing a different input or service route behind it.

Preserve orientation identity when the player is replaced

Label the approved display orientation in the configuration record and include a photograph of the reference border file. When a replacement player arrives, technicians should know which edge is intended to be the top and which output setting reproduces that result. A familiar campaign photograph may hide a rotation or cropping error because its subject remains recognizable even when the complete canvas is wrong.

Keep a copy of the accepted layout that does not depend on an online service. Use it through the manufacturer’s approved playback method when checking a replacement. Then restore the normal campaign and verify the scheduled transitions. Record any changed output setting as part of the new player configuration rather than silently adjusting the creative file to compensate for a mismatch.

Keep a record that connects creative and installation decisions

Save the exact model and configuration, approved mechanical orientation, player output settings and accepted content files. Add photographs showing the installed result and the relevant labels. The photograph documents placement; it is not an independent measurement of brightness or color. Keep any unresolved installation or software issue with its responsible owner.

Test normal startup and an approved content update after installation. Confirm that the system returns to the accepted orientation without a manual adjustment that was omitted from the handover. If a restart or software update changes the result, record the issue and resolve it through the supported configuration process.

Give the creative team the final canvas instructions and the site team the approved operating steps. These documents should refer to the same configuration revision. A future campaign should not require the designer to infer dimensions from a photograph, and a replacement player should not be installed without checking the accepted content path.

Questions about portrait and landscape wall signage

Can a landscape video simply be stretched into portrait?

That can distort the image and may make text or graphics unusable. Choose an approved scaling rule and prepare a portrait composition where required. Confirm the supported file dimensions and player settings, then test with a border reference and realistic campaign content. Filling the screen is not the same as presenting the information correctly.

Does a 4K panel option guarantee 4K portrait video playback?

No. Native panel resolution, player decoding, output settings and orientation support are separate requirements. Ask for the exact configuration and demonstrate the intended media path. Where a catalogue lists several panel options or a lower decoding specification, resolve that distinction in the quotation before the content team prepares final files.

What must remain consistent on a replacement unit?

The approved mechanical arrangement, player output, content canvas and operating process should either remain compatible or receive a documented new approval. Keep the model and revision identities visible. A replacement with the same diagonal can still require different settings or connections, so the accepted reference files should be used again.
